Type Animal

The “Type Animal” project invites students to fuse their love for animals with typography, challenging them to create unique representations using type characters.

Directions

Font Selection
  1. 1. Choose a specific font that will be used consistently across all the type animal drawings.
  2. 2. Consider the characteristics of the font in relation to the chosen animals.
Animal Selection
  1. 1. Choose an animal they wish to represent using type characters.
  2. 2. The chosen animal should be recognizable through the arrangement of letters, numbers, and symbols.
Typography Implementation
  1. 1. Using the chosen font, arrange the letters, lowercase, uppercase, and numbers to create the distinct features of the selected animal.
Colored Pencil Application
  1. 1. Use colored pencils to add depth, texture, and visual interest to their type animal drawings.
Reflection
  1. 1. Reflect on the challenges and successes encountered during the creation of their type animals.
  2. 2. Consider how the chosen font influenced the overall appearance of the designs.

Assessment

Assessment will focus on the creativity and effectiveness of the type animal representations, consistency in font usage, and the skillful application of colored pencils to enhance the visual appeal.

Deliverables

  • • You will submit a photograph of your monogram letters.
    • • Take the photo at 1:1 and add some creativity to it.
    • • Think about how the photograph is styled.
    • • Think about what’s in the background.
    • • Are you holding it, or is it a flat lay?
  • • Name your files: LASTNAME-FIRSTNAME-ASSIGNMENT.JPG
  • • Submit your photos in the assigned folder.
