Week Seven

Missing Letters

The “Missing Letters” project challenges students to refine their letter recognition skills and deepen their understanding of different fonts. By selecting a worksheet featuring specific missing letters, students will draw in the absent characters and match the font style, fostering a connection between visual perception and letter forms.

Directions

Worksheet Selection
  1. 1. Choose between the three worksheets, each showcasing different fonts.
Letter Identification
  1. 1. Identify and draw in the missing letters on the chosen worksheet.
  2. 2. Pay attention to the unique characteristics of each font.
Font Matching
  1. 1. Consider factors such as stroke thickness, serif presence, and overall letter shape.
Comparison and Analysis
  1. 1. Adobe Scan your drawn letter.
  2. 2. Open it in Adobe Illustrator and Live Trace the letter.
  3. 3. Compare the drawn letters with the original font on the worksheet by making the draw letter 100% Magenta and the original font 100% Cyan.
  4. 4. Place the letters over each other and make the transparency Overlay.
  5. 5. Analyze the accuracy and identify areas for improvement.
Reflective Questions
  1. 1. Articulate experiences, challenges encountered, and insights gained during the process.
